Most insurers provide contact information in the event of an accident or claim on the back of your auto insurance ID card. The fastest way to start the claims process is to call the insurer using the information provided. They'll quickly notify us as your agent that you've been in an accident, or have another type (broken windshield, tree limb falling on your car, etc.)
If you can't reach the insurer directly, or just prefer to report the claim to us we'll need the following information to start the claims process for you:
Your information: Name, address, phone number, e-mail and policy number. Contact info is
especially important - the more ways an insurer can reach you the faster your claim will be settled.
Description of loss: Time and date of loss, location of incident, a brief description of what happened and if anybody was hurt.
Other Vehicle information (for traffic accidents only): Current location of vehicle, owner & driver name and address, type of car (year, make and model), and license plate number.
Authority notification: Please note all authorities notified (fire dept., police, etc.)
Accident Report: In some towns and states the police will give you a brief report at the scene of the accident. If you don't get a report, ask for a report/case number.
Additional comments: Is there anything else you think we should know? (Injuries, witnesses, etc.)
